You're learning skills that can protect people, or hurt them. These rules keep you, your classmates and everyone else on the right side of that line. Breaking them can get you removed from your cohort without a refund, as the terms of enrolment explain.
1. Only test what you're authorised to test
This is the rule that matters most.
- Practise only in the LearnCyber lab, on machines we give you, or on platforms built for practice such as HackTheBox and TryHackMe, within their own rules.
- Never scan, probe or attack a system, network, website or account you don't own, unless you have written permission from whoever does.
- "I was just testing" is not a defence. Unauthorised access is a crime under Nigeria's Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, and in most other countries.
- If you find a real vulnerability by accident, stop, don't go further, and tell your instructor. We'll help you report it responsibly.
2. Look after the lab
- Don't attack the lab's own infrastructure, other students' machines, or LearnCyber's or Hackrowd's systems.
- Don't share your lab access, credentials or VPN files with anyone.
- Don't use the lab for anything except your coursework.
3. Do your own work
- Your capstone and assessments must be your own work. You can discuss ideas; you can't copy someone else's report or findings.
- Credit any tool, script or write-up you build on.
4. Respect everyone in the cohort
- Treat classmates, instructors and staff with respect, in class and in the group chat.
- No harassment, discrimination, threats or sexual content, ever.
- Keep other people's personal information private, including anything you see on a shared screen.
5. Keep course materials to yourself
- Recordings, lab guides and slides are for your own learning. Don't share, sell or post them.
If something goes wrong
Tell your instructor, or email support@learncyber.academy. If someone breaks these rules, we'll listen to both sides before we decide what to do. Serious breaches, above all unauthorised testing, mean removal from the cohort.
